Shoe Lust: Vivienne Westwood and Melissa Lady Dragon

1058288-p-DETAILED

Lady Dragon  $154

I absolutely love the color of these shoes.  And the bow.  And the fact that Zooey Deschanel wore them in her cotton ad.  But why, oh why are they made out of PVC?  I used to wear jelly shoes when I was a kid, and my feet would sweat like crazy.  So why would I spend $154 to relive that experience?  You better believe that the second these shoes are made in leather, I will snatch them up.  For now, I must keep searching for those perfect, non-plastic seafoam green pumps.

Shoe Lust: Ugg Classic Short

8835-14078-dUgg Classic Short in Black  $144 (Zappos)

I know that some people will want to immediately write me off for even considering Uggs.  And to be honest, I can’t stand the look of tall Uggs.  But lately, I can’t get my mind off short Uggs.  I think the shorter height helps reduce the “tree trunk” effect they can have on legs.  Paired with skinnies or a pair of leggings, I think that these can be casual cute.  But the main reason I want them: cold evenings.  These seems like they would be the coziest and warmest house slippers ever.  I’ve got to watch for a good sale though, because right now it’s hard to justify the price tag.

Shoe Lust: Sofft Oriole

Lately, I’ve really been wanting some navy pumps.  After seeing these on both Barking Dog Shoes and Low Fat Dressing, I’m really, really craving these shoes.  The details on the t-strap are gorgeous, and I love the color.  I’m not so sure about suede though, but I think with some weather-protectant spray, they’d be fine.  I’ll be watching for these to go on sale.

Shoe Lust: H. Riddlebarger Trees and Birds

H. Riddlebarger “Trees and Birds” Custom Art Shoes  $259

These are shoes that I will probably never buy, but I can’t help but admire how gorgeous they are.  If I was lucky enough to own them, I would probably put them on display on a shelf in my house.  They truly are a work of art.  This particular pair is one of a kind, hand drawn by an Ashland artist, Halle Riddlebarger.  They take the concept of statement shoes to a whole different level.

Shoe Lust: Happy Feet T-Straps in Waverly

These lovely Pink Studio flats have caught my eye and won’t let go.  I love the sweet print and the green color.  The t-strap detail adds an extra special touch.  I could see myself wearing these a ton, with jeans, skirts, etc.  And yes, I realize that these are patterned Pink Studio flats again, but I’m finding that I really like their stuff.

Shoe Lust: Frye Molly Flat

Frye Molly Flat in Lemon  $86.87 on Endless (on sale)

I’m a sucker for yellow lately, and I could see myself wearing a pale lemon flat all the time.  I love the delicate detailing, and the elastic would keep it firmly on my feet.  It comes in a lot of other colors too, including green, coral, tan, black and white.  By the way, for fellow Frye lovers out there, be sure to follow Frye Sales on Twitter - they’ll keep you up to date on all the best prices.

Shoe Lust: Pink Studio Samantha

pink studioPink Studio Samantha   $69

I’d never heard of Pink Studio before, but these lovely printed flats caught my eye while browsing Village Shoes.  With a little more research, I found their website and discovered that some of their shoes are sold at Anthropologie.  I’m loving their beautiful, feminine designs.  I like this flat in particular because of the beautiful and subtle pattern, which contains some of my favorite colors.  My only concern would be support for my feet, but I’m sure some inserts could help with that.

Shoe Lust: Jeffrey Campbell Jewel 2 Flat

Jeffrey Campbell ‘Jewel 2′ Flat    $119 (Nordstrom)

I spotted this lovely little flat in the September issue of Lucky and those jeweled ruffles caught my eye. I love the pale pewter color and that stretchy elastic back means that it might actually stay on my foot, unlike many flats I’ve tried.  Jeweled flats are set to be a trend this fall, and I think it’s something that I could easily work into my wardrobe. I think the key to working a shoe like this is to keep other elements of the outfit toned down so the shoe can shine.  The price is over my ban allowance for shoes, but I’m sure that if I keep looking, I can find a pair on sale, or get a similar pair at lower price.

Shoe Lust: Born Adele

born adeleBorn Adele   $88.95 on Zappos

During my six month shopping ban, I have decided to only buy three pairs of shoes: black knee high boots, ballet flats, and brown dress pumps.  Each pair can cost no more than $100.  Because of this, I’ve decided that the most constructive use of my shoe lust posts should be looking at these types of shoes.  Everytime I start looking at other types, I get a bad itch to buy them and break my ban.

So with that in mind, here’s the first pair of flats I’m looking at.  Born has lots of beautiful flats, and their shoes are amazingly comfortable.  I love the classic black color and simple flat style of these, but what I love even more is the simple detailing on the toe box that sets them apart from so many other ballet flats.  These are some I’ll keep my eye on.
