"Lined up to buy his creations"

Way back in August of 2007, when this blog was still Kittys Creations, I posted about this beautiful little cardigan.  Both the cardi and my blog have experienced many transformations since then.  Yet would you believe that this was the first time I wore this cardigan outside of the house?  Even after my renovations, I was just never happy with the way this cardigan fit.  Until I tried using a shawl pin to close it like this that is.  Now, I think I will be wearing this frequently on chilly days.  The merino yarn is soft and nice and warm.

This was my first “difficult” knit and it ended up being a really long time in the making.  It feels so good to finally find a way to wear it.  After I took these photos, I modified it a little more with buttons, so that the shawl pin is optional.  You’ll see the mods tomorrow, because I ended up wearing this cardi two days in a row!

"There was a great rustling of tissue paper"

I wore this outfit planning for different shoes.  That’s because I wore it the day I went to the post office to pick up my new Fluevog Heather boots, which are a gorgeous shade of teal.  This version of the outfit is very muted, while the teal boots added a nice punch of color.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture with the boots on, but don’t worry – you’ll be seeing them tons.

I love this dress, but I often wish that it was just a few inches longer.  Today, I decided to take the navy modal full slip that came with my Ella Moss dress and layer it underneath this dress, and over a black half-cami.  I love the effect.  It let the hem be just a bit longer, and added some extra interest to the neckline.  I see myself getting many full slips in the future.

I don’t think anything gets me quite as excited as opening up a new pair of Fluevogs. You’ll be seeing them in outfits shortly.

I’m still debating about whether or not to keep my orange Fluevog Fiorenzas (I just really don’t like the color orange anymore).  But one thing is definitely for sure, my goldenrod Malibrans aren’t going anywhere.  I adore these shoes.  They were my first real style investment, and they were worth every penny.  I may feel fickle about orange, but I love goldenrod for an accent color.

See how much more boring this outfit looks when you can’t see the shoes?  My Malibrans really make this outfit shine.

Oh, and these shoes are very popular with the kindergartners at my school.  They love the bright color.

Like I said before, this dress is going to get an insane amount of remixing.  It looks great by itself, with tights, or with leggings here.  The fit is perfect, and it’s so comfy and soft.  And with it’s neutral color, there’s no end to how I can accessorize it.

For this outfit, I focused on accessorizing it with black and turquoise.  Because of the dull and warm color of the dress, I like accessorizing with brighter and cooler colors.  I think that’s why I keep pairing this with shades of blue.

I made the black cami underneath into a half or cropped cami by cutting it off a few inches underneath the bust.  It makes layering in Florida so much more comfortable.

You got a peek at this dress during my shopping ban post last week, but now I’d like to go into the details.  This dress is absolutely going to become one of my wardrobe essentials.  The neutral, rusty brown color offers plenty of opportunities for accessories.  The deep v neck makes layering possibilities about.  The nipped in waist looks great with a belt here, but it also looks lovely unadorned.  And those super flattering sleeves are thin enough to accommodate cardigans and jackets.  You’ll be seeing this one a lot.

This dress is so magically flattering, and I love that it’s an independent label bought at a boutique.

By the way, that cami layered underneath is my new little diy secret.  I’ve always hated layering full camis under dresses or blouses, because it messes up the drape and can be uncomfortably warm.  My solution came in taking this white cami and cutting off the bottom half, so that it is essentially a crop top.  It works so much better in layering now.
