“The Future for You is Not Yet Written”

I swear I’m not a total slacker.  Halloween just sort of crept up on me this weekend, and while I kept meaning to, I never got around to blog writing.  So I apologize for my absence from the blogosphere these last few days.  I’m going out of town later this week, so I’ll try to write up some posts beforehand.

This is my thrown together Halloween costume.  I rigged up the fairy wings with some wire coat-hangers, an old pair of tights and some headbands.  My “wand” is a chopstick wrapped in tin foil.  I combined that with a woodsy-ish tunic, some leaf brooches and lots of glitter eyeshadow, and came up with my costume.

It may not be my best costume ever (that still goes to my Crochet Uno Dress of the Kitty’s Creations days) but it worked, and it was better than having no costume at all.

“Cool as a cat”

Oh how I missed these black capris!  I haven’t completely gotten back to my regular size yet, but I’ve lost just enough weight so that these fit again, albeit quite snugly.  I just adore the look of a slim fitting cropped pant.  Combine that with some lovely drapey Anthro tops, and I’m set.

I’ve started parting my bangs to the side like I used to do, and I think I like this version of my hair better.  It’s nice to be able to switch it up when I want to.

Because life is keeping me super busy (which I don’t mind, because I absolutely love my job), I’m cutting back to posting five days a week.  It seems to be a more manageable schedule for me, and allows me to enjoy blogging without feeling stressed out about it.  For now, the schedule will be:

  • Sundays – Shopping Ban (and sometimes Link Love)
  • Mondays – Outfit
  • Wednesdays – Etsy Love
  • Fridays – Varies, but usually something related to Craftiness or Sustainability
  • Saturdays – Bento Box

If I can get to a point where I feel comfortable going back to seven days a week, awesome.  For now, this is what seems to be working with the shrinking amount of free time I have available.  After all, I still need to enjoy life outside of work and the blogosphere as well.

“Walk as proudly as you can and the world will look up to you”

Well, summer has been a lot of fun.  However, irregular sleep patterns (sleeping past 5am!), irregular eating habits and a little too much snacking has taken its toll on my body.  I’ve gained a little weight, which is leading to most of my jeans and slacks not fitting well (hence why I’ve been wearing the same pair of black shorts about 75% of the time lately).

These Gap Curvy jeans were too loose on me at the end of the school year, but right now, they fit perfectly.  I’m happy with my body, and I’m not freaking out and going on a crash diet or anything.  I’m working on making some small changes in my diet, and I’m pretty sure things will regulate themselves once I’m working again.  For now, I’m just happy that I didn’t get rid of these jeans.  I think that it makes sense to hold onto at least a few items of clothing that are either too large or to small on you, because weight generally fluctuates.

The important thing I’ve learned is to always be kind to yourself.  Beating yourself up about weight fluctuation and getting depressed only makes things worse.   A shift in weight doesn’t stop you from being a  beautiful person, but having a foul attitude about things will.
