Etsy Love: Thank you, thank you very much

*Every Wednesday, I take a look at some of the beautiful items found at one of the best places for buying and selling hand-made and vintage: Etsy.  Buying hand-made and vintage lets you own beautiful, unique objects with character.  It keeps things out of the landfills and supports artists and small businesses who are trying to make a living doing what they love.  If you have a particular theme you’d love to see, drop me a line and let me know. *

I have to admit, despite my best intentions, I’ve never been very good with writing thank you cards.  But I’ve found that, the prettier my thank you cards are, the more likely I am to actually write them out and send them in the mail.  With this in mind, I’ve put together a set of some fantastic hand-made thank yous from Etsy.  Send one to someone you’re grateful for :)

“A few days without my hilarious and witty conversation”

Just a quick outfit post today.  For some reason most of my photos of this outfit didn’t turn out so great.  That drapey top is so comfy, and actually looks a lot prettier in real life.

Top: Old Navy (via rummage sale)
Jeans: Gap Curvy
Shoes: Courtesy of Dansko
Necklace: Garage sale
Bracelet: Garage sale

Bento Box: October 13, 2010

*Welcome to Bento Box Saturday!  Every week, I post a photo of one of my bento lunches.  I use a Laptop Lunches bento box and I love it because it helps me to reduce the amount waste I create, since I don’t produce a lot of extra garbage from throw away packaging.  I also love how it creates perfect portion sizes.  To learn more about how I pack and carry my bento, check out this post*

Okay, so this is the same type of glazed tofu I had in last week’s bento.  But it’s insanely delicious, and everything else is different, so we’ll just let that slide, mmkay?

I packed my bento with:

  • Glazed Tofu and rice noodles
  • Strawberries
  • Carrots
  • Edamame

Photo Friday: Fall is here

*Photo Friday is a new occasional feature where I simply post a few photos I’ve taken recently.  Sometimes there will be text involved, sometimes I will let the photos speak for themselves.  Enjoy.*

Every year, this tree blooms in my backyard just as fall arrives.  It only blooms for a few weeks, but it always makes me so happy, because I know that cooler weather is just around the corner.

Etsy Love: Pretty Colorful

*Every Wednesday, I take a look at some of the beautiful items found at one of the best places for buying and selling hand-made and vintage: Etsy.  Buying hand-made and vintage lets you own beautiful, unique objects with character.  It keeps things out of the landfills and supports artists and small businesses who are trying to make a living doing what they love.  If you have a particular theme you’d love to see, drop me a line and let me know. *

I’ve written colorful Etsy sets before, but I see no harm in putting together another one.  I always find myself drawn to bright, vibrant colors, so it makes sense that I would gravitate towards them when looking through my Etsy favorites.  Here’s my favorite colorful picks this week:

Spin Mobile, $30

Charest Studios

Diana’s Morning in Candyland, $30

Palomaria

Spice and Flowers Patchwork Lunch Sack, $35

Hip to Piece Squares

Mix Pack – You choose which – 3 Pieces of Screen Printed Fabric, $16

Melbomba

Helsinki Afternoon August 1969 Giclee Print, $39

Inaluxe

“I (heart) being awesome”

I love to find new ways to wear things.  I’ve had these black skinny jeans for a few months now, but it only just occurred to me last week that they would look absolutely awesome cuffed.  I think it creates a very chic and work appropriate look that is also super comfy.

My new white ruffle tee is so soft and comfy.  It felt a little too casual on it’s own, but once I added the handknit cardigan, it became a bit more polished.

Tee: 525 America (from My Mosh Posh)
Tank (under tee): Old Navy (thrifted)
Cardigan: Minimalist (handknit by me)
Jeans: Levis
Necklace: Express
Bracelet: Garage sale
Shoes: Keen Barcelona (via eBay)

Shopping Plan update

Because of my schedule, writing weekly shopping plan posts is starting to turn into a chore rather than something that I enjoy.  Because of this, I’m going to only post about my shopping plan once a month for the remainder of 2010.  As always, I want blogging to be something that I enjoy, not something that gives me anxiety or stresses me out.  Look for the next shopping plan post on October 24.

Photo Friday: Line Dry

I love that I can still hang my clothes out to dry.  It is one of those little perks of living somewhere warm like Florida.
