“Walk as proudly as you can and the world will look up to you”

Well, summer has been a lot of fun.  However, irregular sleep patterns (sleeping past 5am!), irregular eating habits and a little too much snacking has taken its toll on my body.  I’ve gained a little weight, which is leading to most of my jeans and slacks not fitting well (hence why I’ve been wearing the same pair of black shorts about 75% of the time lately).

These Gap Curvy jeans were too loose on me at the end of the school year, but right now, they fit perfectly.  I’m happy with my body, and I’m not freaking out and going on a crash diet or anything.  I’m working on making some small changes in my diet, and I’m pretty sure things will regulate themselves once I’m working again.  For now, I’m just happy that I didn’t get rid of these jeans.  I think that it makes sense to hold onto at least a few items of clothing that are either too large or to small on you, because weight generally fluctuates.

The important thing I’ve learned is to always be kind to yourself.  Beating yourself up about weight fluctuation and getting depressed only makes things worse.   A shift in weight doesn’t stop you from being a  beautiful person, but having a foul attitude about things will.

  1. I love the simple chicness of this look, Diana! And I got a big smile on my face when I read your note in chalk– such a good reminder :)

  2. I admire and concur with your attitude toward weight. It does fluctuate, naturally, and that’s nothing to worry about.

When my belt gets a little tight, I realize it’s time to pay attention and slim down a bit. It’s sad when people react to putting on a little weight by getting depressed. Life is too short to squander any chance for happiness.

  3. I am right there with ya! I’ve been so busy this month with family visiting and about 5 people with birthdays. I have gained about 4 lbs. I noticed the same thing when I put on my gap jeans yesterday! They were a tiny bit loose before but not now! oh well. It’s hard not to feel somewhat depressed but like you said it doesnt make you any less of a person and really we are the only ones who notice. Anyways, love the outfit! Super cute shirt and dont you just love those jeans? They are the only jeans I have found that fit my curves perfectly. Have a great day. =)

  4. I needed this reminder. After I lost weight last year, I DID get rid of all my larger clothes. Now I wish I hadn’t! You (and I) will find your groove again.

  5. Thanks for this post!! You know how I am about weight, and all too often I put on a few and then slim down as well. A few months ago I tried Gap Jeans and they felt too tight- but since then I’ve lost over 20 pounds. Maybe they’ll fit, I just have to psych myself to try them on again and not get discouraged. Btw your hair looks amazing, and I love the outfit!

  6. You look gorgeous as ever Diana, and that’s a really good view to have. All my clothes vary around about 3 dress sizes, so I don’t get down about my jeans getting a bit tight once in a while…bring on the chocolate :D

  7. I admire your atitude towards weight balance. It really does happen and we shouldn’t get depressed but do things that makes up happy and keep us moving and the weight will get back in place.
    I love your new haircut.
