Quick Reader Survey

I’m thinking about re-vamping my posts somewhat in the New Year, and I’d love it if you guys could give me some reader feedback.

I’ve noticed that my stats are a lot higher on days that I post Daily Outfits, and these are really my most favorite posts to write, so I’m planning on making them at least five days a week, Monday through Friday.  I’m thinking about adjusting my posting schedule so that the outfits will be something that I have worn either the day before or within the past few days.  Right now my outfit posts are scheduled about a week ahead of time, and while that is convenient, it feels a bit disjointed to me.

I also love writing Etsy Love posts, and definitely will continue with those, because I feel very strongly about supporting the handmade community.

What I’m trying to figure out is what to do with my weekend posts.  These always have the lowest stats and comments, which could result from the fact that people seem to read blogs less on the weekend.  Or it could be that most people just really aren’t interested in that content.

So, my question to you is: do you enjoy reading Shoe Lust posts? Blog project posts such as Wardrobe Inventory and Shopping Ban?  Would you rather just see outfit posts on the weekends?  Or something else in addition to lighter posts like Shoe Lust?

I’ve been considering doing more local store/online store reviews and book reviews for my weekend posts.  Would this be interesting to you guys?

So, anyhow, I’d love to hear your thoughts, because I want this blog to be enjoyable and interesting to my readers.  Feel free to leave on comment with your thoughts/ideas/suggestions etc or send me  an e-mail with the contact box in the upper left-hand corner of the blog.  Thanks!

I enjoy the blogs with daily outfits the most . Second favorite is Shoe Lust.

I love your shopping ban posts– I think mostly because they’re a great showcase of the deals/secondhand/etc things that you’ve purchased. I know for me, I have less to comment on about posts that don’t include something personal, such as the etsy or shoe posts, so I read them without comment. Either way, I think you should focus on the posts you enjoy writing. It’s easy to see when someone is passionate about what they’re writing, and it makes it more enjoyable for readers too!

    I love your daily outfits.
I always look foward to them.

The shoe lust ones, I dont really enjoy them as much.

Etsy makes me want to throw caution to the wind and take out my credit card

I’m a huge Etsy fan and love seeing your outfits too. But the projects are super-interesting to the voyeur in me.
As for weekends, I think blog reading is just generally lower on those days. I’ve pretty much given up posting on Sat/Sun – it just seems to split the readership you would otherwise get on Monday. It might be worth experimenting a little, but I think many women (Moms??) just don’t have time on the weekends for blog browsing.

i would love to see some book reviews. i have been checking out style books from my library and have found some good ones. i don’t care for the shoe lust posts muich, but really enjoy your spending ban posts, and of course your daily outfits.

i think weekends people just don’t read blogs as much. i know i don’t. just don’t have the time with family stuff going on or fun stuff going on or both!

Like the Daily Outfits and the Shoe Lust… oh and Etsy… Wardrobe Inventory, not as interesting.

  • By lisa, December 20, 2009 @ 11:46 pm

I really like the shopping ban and wardrobe inventory posts, and shoe lust for that matter, as well.

i read all my blogs seven days a week, but i am sure there are people who mainly read on weekdays. you could try posting more non-outfit content on weekdays and see if that changes your stats.

your posts are always fun to read, diana. i must say, however, that apart from your outfit posts, i really enjoy shopping ban and wardrobe inventory. shoe lust is fun, too, but i do prefer the others (only because i haven’t been that into shoes lately!).

My blog never gets views at the weekend, even when I do remember to blog!

    I love shoe lust… but then, I’m an addict, so I would…

I like the daily outfits and shopping ban posts. I don’t really care for the shoe lust ones, and I’m neutral on the etsy posts.

I love Wardrobe Inventory–it inspires me to rethink my wardrobe as well.

I also enjoy the daily outfits quite a bit so I’m glad you’re keeping those!

For the weekend I really enjoy the Wardrobe Inventory, it is slowly helping me learn a new approach to how I attack my closet.

I also have enjoyed the shopping ban posts. I especially like the Etsy Love posts because I have found loads of great items and sellers from clicking through your links!

I love all your posts. My favorites are definitely the daily outfit posts. I enjoy the shoes and etsy posts too, but don’t comment as often on those.

As to weekend vs weekday, I’m often a few days behind in reading blogs (but not always), so I just read whatever pops up in my google reader as being the oldest post. Which means I often don’t even know what day you posted it since I’m sometimes reading right away and sometimes not till days later, so weekend content vs weekday content is irrelevant to me. It’s all just content that I read when I have time.

Also, I like reading your shopping ban posts. Reading how you and other bloggers budget and limit spending is inspiring to me, keeps the topic on my mind and presents options that I would not have thought of on my own. Maybe I should read some of the Suze Orman books sitting on my bookshelf…

I like all your posts. :-) The topics you listed are things that make you unique, so don’t drop them!

I just wanted to say that as a fellow blogger, I can also attest to weekends having the lowest reader stats and I think that’s just part of the routine: people seem to read blogs more during the week and take the time off on weekends. I’m sure that’s why most blogs tend to not post as much over the weekends either. So I would argue that it’s not your content as much as a general trend that’s causing less views on weekends.

Love the daily outfits and definitely the awesome Etsy finds you always come up with! S.
