Daily Outfit: Emotional Booster

Thank you so much for all the job-hunting well wishes yesterday.  I’ve got an interview this morning at 11:00, so keep you fingers crossed for me.

Sometimes when you’re feeling down, taking the time to get dressed up can help you feel a bit better, even when all you’re doing that day is going to the supermarket.  That was the inspiration the outfit I wore yesterday.  I started first with Kim’s suggestion to accessorize with a flower and built up from there.  I caved a bit on the weekend and stopped in Ann Taylor LOFT even though my bank account is getting low, and bought a gorgeous perfectly fitting denim skirt and a felt flower brooch.  I’ve been eager to wear both, but hadn’t really had a reason.  Today, I decided that I really didn’t need a reason to be pretty.  It really boosted my spirits.

I decided to pin the  brooch on a matching cream colored tee.  I originally wore some wedge sandals, but I though it looked a bit too tarty given the length of the skirt, and I was going for a more casual vibe as well.  I threw in some green accessories and my staple sterling silver bangles and earrings, and I was ready to go.  Well, ready to sit at my computer, hunt for jobs and feel pretty while doing it at least.

By the way, I’m getting my hair cut next week, and I’m trying to decide what to do.  I like the way it is now, but I think I’d like to change it a little.  I’m debating some wispy bangs.  Any ideas?

  1. I love the cream flower on the cream shirt. It takes some restraint to subtle-ize your accessories like that, but the result is so lovely and polished!

  2. The brooch is just fab! Love how you’ve paired it with a like-color tee … I honestly never would’ve thought to do that. Looks like a single piece.

  3. Hi Diana I love the rose felt brooch, I have a bunch but of course I am “saving” them for back to school. I am a close hoarder.Good luck with the interview. My fingers are crossed.

  4. Awesome!!! I am glad you are in somewhat better spirits, and yeah, I love that new skirt you have, it looks great on you.

  5. Congrats on the new job!!! I am so excited for you. Are you teaching in hills or pinellas? or even polk I guess, is possible. :-)

I Adore that pin. I have some saved in Etsy, but not of them have quite that style – I may have to check those out!! Cute skirt. I really love the Loft. Honestly, if it closed, I’d go half naked. :-)
